How to collect class teacher statements for the yearbook
A class teacher statement is a short reflection from each classroom teacher on the growth, moments and shared experiences that defined their class’s year, printed in every copy of the yearbook. Collect them with a simple Google Form, and send teachers the ready-made note below that explains what you’re asking for.

Where does a teacher statement go?
On that class’s page or spread, usually beside the class portrait panel. Every family who buys a book sees every class’s statement, so a child in one class can read about their friends’ classes too. Give it a spot in each class’s section when you plan the pages.
How do I collect them, step by step?
- Copy the form. Add your school name and year.
- Set a length limit that fits the space you’ve left on each class page, and say it in the question.
- Ask for the teacher’s name as they want it printed (Ms. / Mr. / Mx. / first name) and the class name exactly as it appears on your pages.
- Set a deadline before your photo seal date, so statements are in before page building starts.
- Send the announcement below, from whoever teachers are most used to hearing from.
- Send one short reminder a week before the deadline, then ask through the office for anyone still missing.
- Proofread each statement and check the teacher’s name spelling against the staff list.
- Decide in advance what a class without a statement gets, such as a larger photo, so the page doesn’t look as if something is missing.

How do I get busy teachers to reply?
Teachers have the least time of anyone involved in the yearbook. The advice for getting photos from them applies here too:
- Ask for a specific window, not “whenever you can”.
- Ask through the office when email fails.
- Keep it optional and keep it short. A few honest sentences are better than a paragraph written in a rush.
