Chalk It Up looks like the classroom board at the end of the day. The contents page is Today's Lessons, Our Classes opens with a roll call, and the grade pages borrow from school itself: a Kindergarten Word Wall, a Grade 3 report card of straight A+ grades, a Grade 4 lunch-vote chart and Grade 5 Hopscotch. Backgrounds range from smudged slate with ghost writing to white math-grid paper.

Is Chalk It Up dark all the way through?
No. Its backgrounds include slate, green slate and a navy night board, but also clean white paper, white math-grid and penmanship paper and a chalk-dust cream, so photo-heavy pages can stay light.
