How to add custom pages to your child’s yearbook
Custom pages are two optional pages you design yourself, with photos and words from outside school, and they come with the personalized edition of your child’s yearbook. Add them while you order or later from My Orders, either by uploading a PDF made from our Canva template or by uploading 2–20 photos that we lay out for you, any time before your school’s print deadline.
Can I get a yearbook with custom pages for my child?
Yes, when your child’s school makes its yearbook with Rethink: order the personalized edition and you can add up to two custom pages of your own photos to your child’s copy. The personalization upgrade (+$10) does three things. Two happen automatically: your child’s myClass and myGrade pages, with 35–60 photos from their own class and grade (how many depends on what the school uploads), and your child’s name and photo on the cover. The third is optional: up to two custom pages that you fill yourself.
You don’t need to add custom pages. If you skip them, your child’s personalized book is still complete. They are for families who want to include something from home: a family trip, a holiday, a sport or hobby, a new sibling, this year’s best artwork (how to photograph and preserve it), or a note to your child to find years from now.

How do I add custom pages?
- Order the personalized edition, or open an order you have already placed. To add pages after ordering, go to My Orders and sign in with the one-time code we email you.
- Enter your child’s name and grade if asked, so the pages attach to the right book.
- Choose how to make the pages. Either a PDF: design both pages in our free Canva template (8.5 × 11 inches), download them from Canva as a PDF, and upload that file. Or photos: choose 2–20 photos and we lay them out into a collage for you.
- Upload, and wait for the on-screen confirmation. Building a collage from photos can take a little while, so leave the page open until it finishes.
- Open the preview link and check the pages look right.
If you have more than one child, each personalized book has its own custom pages, so repeat this for each book.
Which option should I choose?
Choose the Canva PDF if you want to decide the layout, add words, or use more than 20 photos. Canva also accepts more photo types, including iPhone photos, and lets you arrange as many photos as fit on the two pages. The PDF must be exactly two portrait pages at the template’s size, and no larger than 30 MB. Starting from our template is the easiest way to get that right.
Choose photos if you would rather not design anything. Upload JPEG or PNG photos, between 2 and 20. You can’t add captions or pick the layout with this option.
A few tips for either:
- Keep faces and words away from the very edges of the page, because a little is trimmed off when books are printed.
- Use the original photos from your phone, not screenshots or copies saved from messaging apps, which print blurry.
- Only upload photos you have the right to use. Your school’s yearbook team can edit or remove content.
When is the deadline?
Your school sets it. You can add or replace custom pages any time before your school’s print deadline. The date is different for every school, so check your school’s yearbook messages or ask your school’s yearbook team.
Summer orders are different. If you order during summer ordering, after your school’s book has gone to print, custom pages must be uploaded when you place the order. They can’t be added or replaced afterwards.
Once a book goes into production, nothing can be changed, including custom pages.
How do I know my custom pages uploaded?
You’ll see an on-screen confirmation with a preview link as soon as your pages are saved. After that, My Orders shows the custom pages attached to each book, and you can preview them there at any time. The on-screen confirmation and the preview in My Orders are your proof: the pages shown in My Orders are the version that will be printed.
We also email you a copy of the confirmation as a courtesy. If it doesn’t arrive, check your spam or promotions folder, but you don’t need it: if your pages show in My Orders, they are saved.
Please don’t email your pages to us or to your school. They can only be added through the upload on your order.
Can I change them after uploading?
Yes, as many times as you like before your school’s print deadline. Upload a new PDF or new photos on the same book and confirm the replacement. The new pages replace the old ones completely, and the previous version can’t be recovered, so keep your own copy of anything you might want back.

Can I get a yearbook with my child’s name on the cover?
Yes. At Rethink, your child’s name and photo on the cover are included in the +$10 personalization upgrade, not sold as a separate add-on; your school’s yearbook team chooses whether it goes on the front or the back. Can I add more than two custom pages?
No. Each personalized book has up to two custom pages. If you want more photos, use the Canva template and fit more onto the two pages.
Who else sees my custom pages?
No other family. Custom pages appear only in your child’s copy, and families never see each other’s custom pages.
Do my custom pages replace any of the school’s pages?
No. Your child’s book still has all of the school’s shared pages and their myClass and myGrade pages. Custom pages are added to that book.
Will I get a digital copy of the pages?
Yearbooks are print only, with no digital or PDF copy for families. You can preview your pages online before the deadline, and you keep whatever you made in Canva.
Something went wrong, or the upload won’t work. Who do I contact?
